The Travel To Health and Fitness

I am traveling on a  journey  to HEALTH and FITNESS. Having experienced years of an eating disorder I now just aim to be be FIT.

In my journey I had to cross the bridge to being healthy and fit.  I have experienced a weight that took me to size 18, I binged and binged and used any excuse for my binge except that I was over eating.

I then rushed to the other side disregarding “healthy”, I  went from an 18 to a 2 and then 4. How I  went days without anything and when I ate I headed to the bathroom did not want any thing in my stomach or the medicine draw for laxative and sometimes I workout out.  You think workout was good and it is if you are not trying to burn up twice the few calories you have taken in.

I vow not to be thin but to be healthy fit.  I now ignore the STOP sign to deter me from daily workout using specific programs, (thank you BeachBody). I do adhere to the yield sign indicating I need to use portion control on some of my favorite foods.  I respect the green light that tells me to stay focus on my goals.

The bridge of my journey to health and fitness does not allow for U turns, (discard all eating disorder habits). Every thing in proportion nutrition, workouts, positive thoughts, hydration, and sleep ……Yes this journey is still on for me.

YOGA -The Many Purposes

Yoga has its many purposes. After a week of kick butt workouts, weights, aerobic, treadmill, elliptical  (I  mix it up). My muscles are tight usually  my quads.  I need to stretch.

Beachbody has several yoga workouts that satisfy my muscles. I am not following the said calendar of the program, but I choose the one to stretch the muscle I feel that is tight.

Yoga also tightens ad tone with stretching which will burn calories.

Yes yoga has poses for meditation to clear your mind, allow focus, and promote a positive mindset.  How you apply yoga in your lifestyle should be one of personal gains and satisfaction for you. After all it is about “YOU”, just as my yoga is about yep, you guessed it “ME”.

TO A GREAT WORKOUT  AND STRETCH-NAMASTE

 

 

Life Style Change

On my journey to a better, healthy, fit lifestyle I am learning so much. Last week I learned I needed to tweak my schedule as my life style change.

Life style change not only means I have to adjust my workouts but also my intake.

As our activity increase or decrease or as weight lifting increases so much our nutritional intake.  It is so easy to forget that we have increased weights or our life style is busier and not understanding why we are fatigued.  Coffee, green tea, energizers are only a short fix. Without adequate nutrition, the body (muscles) will go into starvation mode and just slow down causing fatigue.

Just remember to adjust and tweak your nutritional intake to your daily activities for a continuous healthy life style.  A share I am learning and applying on my journey

Just Be Selfish

How many times have you, me, we been told, always  be nice, respectful to others? Don’t be selfish , share. For me since childhood  to now, about a million, or so it seems.How about being selfish and nice. How about applauding yourself.

Today I did   several workouts after I was unable to accept my 20 excuses. Yes 20 minutes on the treadmill at a speed of 6 and an  incline of 4, elliptical for 15 minutes, Body Beast – Build shoulders, thanks Sagi for a great weight worthy workout. Challenge Du Jour-Cardio & Core well Kam that was a great sweat. Beachbodyondemand.com my awesome provider for greater than 600 workouts.

Oh yeah got off track there, I applauded myself. I am and sure you do as well applaud others. So today I am challenging you to be selfish, applaud yourself.  I know you accomplished something amazing today.

FOCUS

Focus is a very song and powerful word. On my weight journey not only must I outline my weekly goals, broken down to daily I must stay “FOCUS”. It is easy to make an  outline, but it has no meaning without follow through.

To follow through it is so necessary to stay focus.  In my outline not only am I detailed but I place a reminder of my goals.

There are days I really want to just stop, because I am not seeing results in an exercise routine, or my appetite is off (sweet craving, or I am not wanting to eat), I look at my goals and stagger to my focus of the day.

I  am sharing as humans we can and do get side tracked on a journey to achieve a healthy lifestyle,  so stay FOCUS, the reward is on its way.

HYDRATION With What……Water

The heat, humidity is no joke. It is a must to hydrate  in this weather.

Hydrate prior to, during and after any workout be it a walk, weights, cardio, yard work, HYDRATE.

Water not your fave, okay how about choosing a fruit, cut in small size, place in zip lock bag, freeze then add to your water as a flavor.  Yes you can purchase flavored water with ahh so many additives.   You can choose  a few veggies ( without freezing ). Celery and cucumber gives water a snap, refreshing taste.

Hydration is  so necessary for the muscles, skin and yes your  organs.

So today, tomorrow  l I velour sel and Hydrate. Water does the body GOOD .😉

Know YOUR Limits

Road of travel

The road to success has curves, hills, rocks, and then you reach your destination.  However would you travel anywhere without proper preparation? Say on an empty tank? No oil? Flat tire? Or would you stop in the middle of flowing traffic without cause? How would you reach your destination.

This applies to exercise, or any goals you are trying to reach.

I am applying this metaphor to  workouts. You must have proper fuel to workout (nutrition / fuel). You must balance your carbohydrates and fats  (oil). You must have adequate sleep (flat tire), and to get results of any workout you must follow the specifics be it a calendar or and a trainer (stopping in the flow of traffic).

Know Your Limits, I have to remind myself with each workout my limits and you too should do the same.

Healthy Shakes

I will always remember as I keep photos of my days of eating disoroders.  Having an eating disorder is not a past life.  It is a disease.  There is no cure because it can return any day, any time, at any age.

I have tried as mentioned in prior blogs several programs to my over weight,  and several shakes.  My favorite and one I have adhered to is Shakeology. It comes in several flavors and you can add your healthy components to make it a desert.

PLANT THE SEEDS OF YOUR IMAGE

How do you picture yourself? Your image? How do you want to look?

Stop and just imagine, really how do you want to look?  I had to recently look at my image AGAIN. Yes because it was changing . Quick share, I was on a great movement to changing my image of me.  I got a bit side tracked and fell off.

When seeds are planted we look for a beautiful plant, tree, grass. We do what is necessary to make the growth the image we visioned.

How about your image? Did you plant your seeds? Your growth has several components and sometimes may need a little tweaking.  Just as seeds of the earth require watering, removing objects, pruning, trimming.

Nutrition, work out, sleep are the components to your image.  Okay now plant those seeds and look at your image. Oh how beautiful, handsome, healthy and fit you look.
