Power who does not like it? At some part in our life we like power be it small or large. But how do we use it? Well some better than others and not always in a positive way, but I am focusing on working out, yes, just fitness.
Fitness and Power, and these are powerful words. If you are anything like me, I have challenges especially when it comes to well hell all workouts but greater with weights and certain cardio routines. Once again I am a lover of “beach body” and beachbodyondemand.com has all my workouts and favorite trainers except my running or biking. Okay, keeping focus, “fitness and power”, I have told myself several times, “no I cannot do that move or weights, what increase past 10 pounds, this is crazy I need to find another program”. Changing programs did not help because it was the same thing jump, lunge how many times and I’d change again to find another challenge. I still was saying to myself “I can’t”.
FINALLY I looked at my oversized body at that time and said “you got to get with it and do something because going to the gym once a week and really doing nothing for 2 hours is not cutting it lady”. I teared up and look at how my body was disappointing me, no that’s wrong, how I’d abused and disappointed my body”. Like a soldier I marched back in the workout room, decided on a program on beachbody and begin my journey and every time I thought of “I can’t”, I changed it to YES I CAN, and I did. It was my mindset. Once I changed my mindset to I CAN, I was a new person, and so my journey begin. I can not share the number of programs I have completed and repeated and laugh aloud when I remember me wanting to stop a specific routine and not lift weights. Depending on the trainer my weights can go as high as 130 on squats that’s really up from 10. Yep.
I challenge you from this day forward in your fitness to erase, cancel out the phrase , I can’t, become powerful because “ I CAN” is power and you can. I believe in you and me, we got this.
Are you? I’m asking this question because it is our EGO that affects our behavior when we as many say “step outside of the box”. Our “comfort zone” in life really prevents our greatness from being unleash.
Now I will share my story of “My EGO”. Yes I had one and so do you, but I am speaking of me. When I begin my fitness journey. Okay that is incorrect because I have been on a fitness journey since my teens early adult, yep awhile back so what. My journey in the early years was of me on and off again dieting, working out and my eating disorder was high then low; all those behaviors except when I worked out were abnormal, unhealthy and breaking my body down instead of building it up. However , I was a little cute but unhealthy as hell. This is why I call my current journey , “the real fitness journey”.
Back to the ego, beginning my fitness journey I was a bit uneasy, I am no longer the young gal and I was overweight and with kids. My body was lacking in continuous healthy nutrition, I was 15/85 which is 15 healthy and you know what the 85 was. I didn’t want to hear my friends tell me as a few still do and they are in the health field. “Why are you doing this now, girl you was okay with the way you looked, are you afraid of lifting weights, afraid of running, and on and on. I allowed these words to penetrate my mind and I delayed actually beginning my journey. My ego did not want to hear what I knew was coming. I didn’t want to be considered out of my circle and talked about and what if ….” I fail”. Maybe I couldn’t stay focus and just fail.
Nope I put on my “big girl draws (underwear)”, and begin my journey. Do I hear the negative, uh huh and it has a value of zero. It’s my journey my fitness and my ego has declined anyone negativity. I am on it now.
As for you, “are you willing to risk your EGO? I bet there is greatness in. You, time to unleash. To a greater week than last week, YOU ARE AWESOME.
It is a New Chapter, because it is a New Year, YEAH!!!! 2019. I am writing my story of self improvement. I have exactly 365 days (starting from January 1) to write this chapter of my book. I want to wear the biggest smile ever on the completion of this chapter 31 December 2019.
How and What will you fill your empty pages with. To a Year of “GREATNESS”
Is it a diet or is it nutritional intake awareness? Is this a life style change?
Yes and yes but there is a difference. A diet is temporary, looking for body change for a specific event. You do look at your nutritional intake, omit meals (not healthy), avoid carbohydrates (there are good and bad), exercise beyond your normal. Again yes, the outcome is fabulous, females looking beautiful, shapely, firm men just as handsome all types of muscles present. But….what happens when the event or season is over? Yeah I thought so back to normal and those carbs taste even better you do what? um hmm over indulge.
How about a “Life Change”? No this does not mean a lot of money. I am saying this because prior to my journey and years of unhealthy eating I needed a life style change. No more binging, purging and all those unhealthy habits. I am talking about eating healthy daily, for a consistent, loving your self and your body change.
Does a life change mean no more carbs ever? Of course not. Does it mean you must return to everyday for the rest of your life working out like you are insane, hell no. It does mean eating in moderation, carbs,(mostly healthy) but really some times we need that slice of cake, pie (not the entire or half ). As well as sometimes one roll is not enough but let’s not eat the whole package and not everyday do we need it.
Workouts are the same find a gym, a program as my favorite a “beachbody”
I love that I am able to workout on my time following a schedule to workout muscles, tone, stretch without waiting and on a fatigue day I can use the moderator.
To everyone reading this blog or just past and share let’s make it a “Life Change” not just a temporary “diet” change. To a week or day of decision to get it right. Much love.
I am reflecting on my beginning days of 80 Day Obsession as I am in Round 2. I was struggling my first few days of the program and almost threw in the towel this it. I completed Round 1 with moderate results and looking for greater results in Round 2.
This for me is a workout requires focus and commitment. In my beginning struggles I read people giving up and verbalizing how they felt the program was unsuccessful (1 week), really. Others stating it was not enough, I knew it. My decision to quit was right or so I thought.
I then begin to think of my strengths. Do I really want to stop, give it more time as I could hear Autumn saying “We are so close” in day 3 workouts or maybe day 4. Also how can you evaluate any physical, workout in a few days or one week. I almost FAILED myself listening to others and not really focusing on the workouts, end results to come.
I encourage anyone performing and workout regimen to evaluate your goals, the workouts for YOU. What others experience maybe totally different of your experience. Before throwing in the towel, evaluate why is this a choice. This applies to all workout, weight lifting (increasing the weights), cardio (expanding the time), running, jogging.
Don’t FAIL yourself, BELIEVE in yourself…. the results are coming.
Are you frustrated as I once was, because I was exercising and not seeing the results I wanted especially with the time I was spending on workouts.
- To begin with I was actually wasting a lot of non productive time in the gym, going at the wrong time waiting on machine. Now that I have discovered well recommend by a friend Beachbodyondemand. I can workout at home with a trainer on my schedule without a wait.
- Having the satisfaction of working out at home was and is great. i was choosing which workout I wanted to do. This showed little results. There is a scheduled program with each workout and there is a reason for this, to make certain each muscle is worked to a proven RESULTS. Another lesson I learned, “follow the program”.
- Hydration, it is necessary to drink adequate fluids, your body(muscles, organs, tissues require hydration).
- Nutrition, are you overeating or undereating? Eating less food in the beginning will assist with weight loss or fitness journey. However, for long-term this is a NO. The body will go into starvation mode. What happens, you fatigue easily, you crave unhealthy nutrition that can and will hinder your progress. You know, again with each of the programs on Beachbody there is a nutrition plan. Okay the plan is not generalized it is actually detailed to your weight and activity and the amounts of specific foods required to see results of a specific program. I was so surprised to learn I consumed foods though healthy was more than and some less than I needed. Wow thank you BeachBody. I cannot get this at a gym, not that I am aware of.
- Sleep, regardless of how busy our days are to see results adequate sleep is necessary. I had to actually time out my days with a calendar. Yes there are days I get 4 maybe 5 hours of sleep, but they are few.
Consider your lifestyle, are you using the components necessary to achieve success on your fit journey? If not it is NEVER too late to begin.
I salute you to success and if not a beachbody user, give it a try BEACHBODYONDEMAND
