I know you are reflecting on the ACTIONS you should be taking to begin2026. The ACTIONS that will empower you in the areas you seek a greater fulfillment in. I’d like to slip in another add on. Erase the blame of others and just think what was your role in “the Steal of YOU”.
Beyond the Resolution: Reclaiming Yourself in 2026
It’s the first Friday of the year. By now, the initial noise of New Year’s Eve has faded, leaving us in that quiet, reflective space where we decide what this year is actually going to look like.
Most of us spend this week reflecting on the ACTIONS we should be taking. We think about the habits that will lead to greater fulfillment in our careers, our health, and our relationships. But before we can move forward into the “new,” we have to address what we feel we’ve lost along the way.
The Mystery of the “Missing” You
Think back to a time when you felt truly at peace—full of joy, love, and a sense of purpose. If you feel like that person is gone, you’ve likely spent a lot of time identifying the “thieves.” We point to difficult bosses, draining relationships, or chaotic circumstances and say, “They stole my light.”
But today, I want to challenge you to do something uncomfortable but deeply empowering: Erase the blame.
Were You a Participant in “The Steal”?
When we blame others for our lack of peace, we hand them the keys to our happiness. To find yourself again, you have to look at the role you played in your own story.
Ask yourself:
- Did I allow the steal to happen?
- Was I an ACTIVE participant in letting my joy slip away?
- Did I prioritize someone else’s comfort over my own peace?
“The Steal of YOU” usually happens in small increments—the boundaries we didn’t set, the “yes” we said when we meant “no,” and the moments we chose resentment over self-care.
Dig Deep and Keep Rolling
The good news is that if you played a role in losing that joy, you are the only one who can find it again. It hasn’t been destroyed; it’s just buried under the weight of last year.
As you look at the 363 days remaining in 2026, embrace your strength. You have the ability to FIND IT. It might require some heavy lifting and deep internal digging, but that vibrant, peaceful version of yourself is still in there.
Search for that person. Present them to the world. Smile, take ownership of your light, and let’s keep it rolling.
