What If You Spilled?

I ask this question as I recently chatted with a person and she felt as if she’d made an error on a decision. It wasn’t life threatening but life challenging however to her she felt different. It’s not mine or your decision to judge the value of another. We can disagree or agree but most of all I do believe the best approach is to respect their value and listen. This is only if it’s not of harm to anyone.

So, you guessed it I listened. Really listening sometimes will aide an individual to resolve a situation themselves. The more they talk the reality and resolution just comes. But it didn’t in this situation, well it did but not immediately.

My question was simple and I requested her not to answer during our conversation but to just think about it.

If you spilled a liquid an it was a large amount would you

1. Just walk away in hopes that it dried up (meaning to resolve itself without any action)

2. Try to avoid it in hopes of not falling or sliding through and didn’t consider someone else could get injured in a fall

3. Would you shout out I spilled, avoid this area I’m going to clean it up now, as a preventative measure and clean up the spill. As you clean up you realize your error and implement whatever action is necessary to prevent a reoccurrence.

That’s a decision to make. We are capable of making decisions for ourselves with the right action and without injury or harm. But for many the walk away is easier.

How about you? Are you or have you cleaned up the spill ? If not, I think the spill is there and you have time to clean it up. The decision YOU make and the ACTIONS you take is leveling up. And that feel good smile, that now feel good strut, twist, swagger just added extra watts of light into your life and brightened a room.

What if you spilled.
