Workouts Must Be A Challenge – Why…How

If you are just beginning a workout as I once was, DO NOT challenge yourself and also know your limits. Challenge is just another way to say PROGRESSION.

I am a fond follower of BOD (beachbodyondemand) which means I choose my trainer, their program and follow the calendar which is what I need.  Yes I need this because in beginning my fitness journey I would workout and use the same  routine over and over again.  Did I see results, yes but gradual and trust me the turtle had traveled several miles before I saw any result.  I would increase weights, speed are gradually and not consistently.

I NEVER challenged myself to do a workout that looked like “I can’t do that”, I could not because I never challenged myself.  Whether you are a BOD fan or workout at a gym challenge yourself.  With my workouts the trainers give positive encouragement to challenge yourself.  I can say there were programs I begin and threw in the towel because one or two days I knew I was destined for failure.  NOT so I thought I was destined for failure, I challenged myself, some routines with the modifier challenging myself with each workout and YES I completed every program I thought was a challenge.

Challenging your body will prevent complacency with the muscles and you will pat your own back and 🖐 yourself too. Uh huh I do this and I feel good about it.

I challenge you to challenge yourself with one activity in your workout this week and don’t forget the ✋🏽 .

It Has To Be FUN

I am rolling over, hesitating  to rise and then I remember, to give Thanks and praise, morning chores and then my chore. Of course my chore is not really a chore it is FUN.

What the heck am I speaking of ? FUN , my workouts they are FUN.  Wow I have said that enough.  But really if you are working out one, two, three, times or more a week at home with your trainer on my loved BOD or at the gym, maybe with friends it should be fun. If your workouts are unfilling, and not FUN, (there goes that word again), you need to change.  Having fun and challenging yourself keeps you motivated well it does me and make me feel guilty when I am trying to skip a workout or just not giving 100 in my workout.  The Fun and joy of seeing and feeling my results is so awesome.

If your workouts are not FUN, then it’s time to rethink. Oh challenging yourself, swearing during your workouts and sweating does not mean it’s not fun it means you have a goal and you are pushing through.  Boring is not fun just clarifying.

To a year end and year beginning of FUN workouts.

Compare – Stop – Believe

I am not certain how everyone else feels, but for me there are days I have to check myself. When I say check myself I mean my attitude on fitness journey.

You ever look at someone who is so fit, toned and muscles popping in the right place? As a female I think muscles are awesome as long as you do not look like the Hulk 24-7, but flexing, contest I just adore.  I am so guilty in comparing my journey and success of journey to others and look at someone else and do the EVIL thing.  I say it is evil because we are made up differenlty, our bodies, response to different workouts, food consumption, metabolism.  Instead of admiring of course I am one to always complement, but that EVIL which is

compare

Yes “Compare” is unfair to me to you.  Everyones’ struggle and success is different.  Instead of comparing I have learned and must remind myself to set goals and continue my journey.  Goal setting allows me to check myself and see my own success.  So I say let’s eliminate the “evil”

Instead let’s love ourselves and whatever journey you are on stay focused because you are already a winner, achiever.

To a winning week of GREATNESS.

The Challenge of Weight Lifitng

weights-958749_960_720

Weightlifting can sometimes be a challenge. There are days I can bench 85 -100 pounds, I can squat the same amount, and then there are days…….. I must decrease my weights. Sometimes it is because of a RA (rheumatoid arthritis flare), but there are days I just don’t have the strength.

Of course there are factors that can affect this. Factors such as in adequate hours of sleep, too little or too high caloric intake, usually it is the too little, stress, inadequate fluid intake. These are just a few. However I do encourage myself as I encourage anyone else that experience days as this, to just decrease the weights and keep going.

I know a as I sometimes motivate myself to not give up, do not be disappointed; you are a WINNER  don’t stop now. To a great week of WORK OUT and being STRONG.

Birthday Celebration & A Workout

birthday cake

It was my birthday and I wanted to enjoy with celebrations which meant  a lot of carbs. I knew this would affect my workout but I was uncertain to the degree it would affect it.

I received a shock when I was unable to run a full 3 miles well not at the speed I usually do. At first I thought something was wrong, then I remembered. It was the meal I had eaten that night in my system affecting my performance.

I thought I had everything measured out just right but I was wrong. You see when your body get used to eating for function and not for hungar, greed, boredoom , celebration; over eating on carbs or any food does not fuel the body. Instead is slows it down.

This week I am in for new beginnings just like an oil change on a car, I got to get my engine which is my body back to operating speed and geared up to go. How a few hours of  fun can affect several days of functioning, WOW.

My journey continues, slow down but back to speed. I am not upset though because I needed to enjoy my birthday probably at a lesser degree.

So for any and all who had few days that they were off their schedule, do not quit be a winner because you are a winner you and I are in it to win it. To a great week of my success in yours as well.

Timing Your Workouts

Every day, every week,  time your workouts. The purpose of scheduling  your workouts is so that you get the ultimate response from each and every squat,  cycling, bench press, push up that you do. If you schedule your workouts and  really incorporate them  into your daily and weekly life you become  committed. It is now a habit.

It is essential as I have found, yes there are times  I must adjust, the times not the workouts nor do I omit a workout planned on a day.  Well only if I am experiencing an arthritic flare (severe). I do  adjust if I am physically  fatigued, because I know that will be a poor, piss workout. On the flip side if I have allowed frustration to enter into my life I will go for it, (these days I give it a bit more) and I feel great after.  A power nap really makes a difference for me, I se an alarm and use no excuse when it goes off, COMMITMENT and my WHY.

To a great week and a great workout!!!!!!!

I Almost ……….

Fail-Stamp

I am reflecting on my beginning days of 80 Day Obsession as I am in Round 2.  I was struggling my first few days of the program and almost threw in  the towel this it.  I completed Round 1 with moderate results and looking for greater results in Round 2.

This for me is a workout  requires focus and commitment.  In my beginning struggles I read people giving up and verbalizing how they felt the program was unsuccessful (1 week), really.  Others stating it was not enough, I knew it. My decision to quit was right or so I thought.

I then begin to think of my strengths.  Do I really want to stop, give it more time as I could hear Autumn saying “We are so close” in day 3 workouts or maybe day 4.  Also how can you evaluate any physical, workout in a few days or one week.  I almost FAILED myself listening to others and not really focusing on the workouts, end results to come.

I encourage anyone performing and  workout regimen to evaluate your goals, the workouts for YOU.  What others experience maybe  totally different of your experience.  Before throwing in the towel, evaluate why is this a choice.  This applies to all workout, weight lifting (increasing the weights), cardio (expanding the time), running, jogging.

Don’t FAIL yourself, BELIEVE in yourself…. the results are coming.
