I am so happy Friday is here, just kidding and mocking so many people. I’ve learned through years of growth in so many ways to enjoy and cherish each and every day. I’m one to raise my hand as I know each day, week, month will have different levels of joy as well as there is a lesson in each whether we are aware of it or not, IT’S THERE.
I completed my 5th week of Barre Blend, by the way if you’ve never tried a barre work out and think it is too easy you have wronged yourself in so many ways. Nonetheless I completed week 5 and continue to use 2 lb. weights, there will be no heavy weights in a barre workout. I learned that quick. My balance has improved so much and for reason or reason unknown to my shoulders have been on fire with each workout this week . Next week will begin week 6, there are 8 weeks in this program which is streamed on BOD and who know I may just repeat it again, because I did not know what I now know about barre workouts.
To complete my week in full as I love Barre Blend I will do heavy lifting not that it’s necessary to complement the barre workout because I love weight lifting. As I continue my fitness journey and note the changes in my body as well as my nutrition I get so EXCITED. Excited for the change but to know I did not stop or give up on me regardless to unsupportive friends and family. Age is not the factor but learning to accept, respect yourself is and sometimes it has to be about YOU.
So this week give Yourself more on whatever journey you are pursuing and make it about YOU, because it is.
I’m currently doing two workouts and they are so different and each has worked my body differently with sweating, huffing, puffing, balance and challenged me to new levels.
Barre Blend- my second round of this workout, it first stoked me because my expectations were so wrong and now it challenges me. What is barre- well it is a combination of Pilates, ballet, yoga, muscle strengthening, kickboxing, abs, dance and lots of fun. The equipment well it’s your decision, however as I do lift heavy this workout or these workouts says NO. No heavy weights I begin with 5, then 3 and am steady with 2 lb. weights. I love Barre Blend (streamed on BOD)
Boxing well yeah that’s 10 Rounds on BOD. Three days of boxing 10 rounds- 7 rounds include boxing, 2 rounds are agility which is cardio with strengthening moves using loops sometimes and always a towel and 1 round of ab workout. I love 10 Rounds. Which was to be 2 week with barre although it is a 6 week program. Today I started week 3.
I can’t decide which to concentrate the most on so for now I’m giving each my 💯 And before my muscle become complete immobile from either workout I hope I’ll decide which one to continue with until then I’m a barre boxing gal,
Yes, it has. I am still on my fitness journey, but my focus has to change. Why, well I want to be true to me. I know my struggles on this fitness journey of mine. I know how I’ve overcome obstacles, the biggest one was and is “eating disorder of extreme” . I know how my body responds to workouts and nutrition and better to some than others.
With this change I am really hoping it doesn’t take long for my body to respond. I know my body is accustomed to certain time of day and specific days of workout but I will be increasing and splitting the workouts. I know how my body responds to change and I am prepared for the struggle hopefully only 2 – 3 weeks. My body requires programming and my mind must sync with the body. Yeah when that happens it is a bit easier.
I call it change but it is actually tweaking my fitness journey. Tweaking and why, well I’m a bit on a plateau now and I need to come out of it. My focus will be greater on workouts and I know nutrition is SO IMPORTANT but I will have to deal with that later. One at a time. Too many changes well I will set myself up to fail.
I’m sure others can do it all at one time, nope doesn’t work for me. I now just try both NOPE again. I’ve been with this body for a long, long time and I know it, we have a relationship. So first fitness change then nutrition if needed. Changing to unleash a greater me and you know maybe you too can change or tweak what you already know for a greater you. TO OUR GREATNESS
Now what does that sound like and how can they be related well I’m going to share with you.
Learning the not so easy way being determined to achieve a goal or goals as I am in my fitness journey is just that….. A DETERMINATION. Writing my goals down adjusting when necessary as this past week due to a slap of upper respiratory infection. But being determined means a focus a commitment and more commitments.
You can be determined to achieve a goal as I once was before I committed. I would be determined to change my nutrition and workouts as they were not working for me. I WANTED change, I whispered it, I shouted it, I even shared it and I know so many laughed and to be honest once I realized my own default I too chuckled.
DETERMINED huh, really okay. But I was not committed. Committing to one day, one week or one month is not determination its a wishful dream. I had to blast myself and still do. If I’m determined to stay on my fitness journey I MUST be COMMITTED.
So now you see how close the two are and they are ever so close.
To ending this decade and beginning a new one with determination and commitment to your goals to OUR goals.
I’ll squat and raise the bar to both
Not the age for what? Nor sue what I am bout to share, well here it it. I have colleagues, friends and relatives that have concern of AGE. Really do you think age stops you from working out, changing your lifestyle? NO it does not.
Beginning any workout regimen is not easy, especially if it has been years and you’ve been lazy or thinking I’m a bit too old for this. STOP and correct your self. Of course it is ALWAYS recommended to ask your physician especially if their or physical limits. Once you get the okay then get ready to go. Be warn you cannot start out at 100 when you are at 5. Don’t be impossible because most likely you will just stop and give return to old habits of…… doing just nothing.
Begin slowly, it takes time to build that endurance and you will just keep the focus. The focus of, well your goals and be realistic again. Don’t compare your progress with others, I made this mistake once, almost ran myself insane. Yes I wasn’t seeing the body and results I wanted in two weeks. It’s good at that time I had a coach that encouraged me to stay focused and know “change will come, but you have to believe in yourself the process”. For some this is easy other not as much so.
So its not the age It’s your mindset and it is easy to say the age because beginning any workout whether it be walking a few days a week, light weight lifting, cardio, yoga, Pilates which ever exercise regimen will get you up and moving.
Just FYI there are so many males and females 50, 60 and older building muscles to compete imagine that.
So again NOPE its not your age. NOW get ready to implement action plan to end the decade and begin another with GREATNESS- YOUR GREATNESS.
